Peter Sevcik Peter Sevcik is a principal of NetForecast and founder and executive director of the Apdex Alliance. He is a leading authority on measuring, assessing, and improving the performance of networked applications. Peter has contributed to the design of more than 100 networks, including the Internet, and to the success of more than 25 application management products. He pioneered several performance management techniques that are in common use today. Peter invented the application performance index (Apdex) which is a numerical measure of user satisfaction with the performance of enterprise applications. He turned the methodology into an open standard and formed the Apdex Alliance. Peter is a frequent lecturer on the performance of networked applications and co-authors the App Performance View blog at Network World. Peter is a senior member of the IEEE and presented the IEEE Packet Switching and Network Performance seminar series. He is also a member of the ACM, having served as the editor of the Computer Communications Review. As a charter member of ANSI and ISO study groups on Public Data Networks, he directly contributed to the development of international communications standards. Peter holds the patent on application response-time prediction. He is a graduate of the College of Engineering at Villanova University and recipient of their Professional Achievement Award.
